Lync functionality question - Chat Log

    Question

  • Hi everyone,

I'm doing some research for a vendor selection project, and I have one question about Lync's Conversation History/Chat Log functionality that I haven't found through my online research.

The question I have is this:  Can Lync pass over the conversation history/chat log from a current session to the 3rd party application that initiated it?  If so, by what means of integration (XML messaging, etc.)?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Lync doesn't pass over the conversation history/chat log from a current session to the 3rd party application that initiated it. It will save all conversation history with the lync client.

It saves IM to the outlook conversation history with HTML format.

  • Thanks for the response, Sean.  Is the conversation history available to the 3rd party via any api or is it possibly stored within a database?

The reason I'm asking is we need to save a copy of the history inside the 3rd party application to the Case for which it was associated with.  The agent, when opening the Case, should be able to review the log within the 3rd party app as part of the Case's history and not go somewhere else, such as Outlook.

  • Hi,

It is possible to use the 3rd party tool which developed by API to store the conversation history. You can conform it in the Lync development forum.
