Lync 2010 client presence not updating

    Question

  • Hi,

we have a strange problem that's recently developed with our Lync 2010 clients (4.0.7557.4356 & 4.0.7557.0) in that the presence information has stopped dynamically updating with Outlook 2007 calendar appointments.

Until recently this was working without issue, but now the only way I can invoke a synchronisation with Outlook is to restart the client or clear the GAL cache. I'm not aware of any configuration changes, other than MS updates, which would have changed our Lync/Exchange environment.

Has anyone else experienced this or found a fix/workaround?

    Many thanks

    Paul

  • Please check if Exchange EWS is connected (go to lync icon in tray and right click while holding CTRL and check Configuraiton Information)

  • Hi,

Have you checked if other Exchange integration features are working properly? Such as Voice Mail, Contact Search. If not, please double check if Lync client can connect to EWS. As Johan said, please check the ESW URI in Lync configuration information. In addition, please also check the client policy in this link(eg.MAPIPollInterval, WebServicePollInterval,CalendarStatePublicationInterval)

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398814.aspx

MAPIPollInterval, WebServicePollInterval controls how often Lync retrieves calendar data - default is every 30 mins.

  • Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll take a look on the affected clients and get back to you.

  • So far I have changed the following on our Lync Front Edge Server, as suggested above:

Changed MAPI polling from 30 minutes (default) to 5 mins: set-csclientpolicy -MapiInterval "00:05:00"

Changed Web Svs polling from 30 mins (default) to 5 mins: set-csclientpolicy -WebServiceInterval "00:05:00"

Changed Calendar Publication Interval to 300s/5m: set-csclientpolicy -CalendarStatePublicationInterval 300

Ran Invoke-CsManagementStoreReplication to push out changes

This seems to have fixed the issue on most of the clients, thanks, but I still have several that show "EWS Not Deployed" instead of "EWS Status OK" when looking at the Lync 2010 client Configuration Information. For one affected client with this issue, I have so far removed and re-installed the client, applied the latest update roll-up, removed any related Lync & Outlook cached usernames/passwords from Control Panel|Credential Manager but the status still does not sync with Outlook and EWS shows as not deployed.

Thanks for your help so far, much appreciated.
