Lync Port requirements

    Question

  • Hello All!

    1. Please tell me which ports are needed between Internal Edge 2013 Interface and Internal Clients 2013(not servers)?
    2. Which ports are needed on Lync Cliets 2013?

Answers

  • Correct, although those ports are used for TURN as well as STUN, and even before media negotiation to provide the ICE candidates.

  • Hi,

    1) Internal Clients connect to Internal Front End Servers on local (not Edge Servers)

    2) Please check below link port req.

  • Thanks for the reply but the internal clients interact with the internal interface of the Edge :)

    Any

    Edge Server internal interface

Preferred path for A/V media transfer between internal and external users, Survivable Branch Appliance or Survivable Branch Server

    STUN/MSTURN/TCP/443

    Any

    Edge Server internal interface

Fallback path for A/V media transfer between internal and external users, Survivable Branch Appliance or Survivable Branch Server if UDP communication cannot be established, TCP is used for file transfer and desktop sharing

  • HI,

Internal user only uses the internal interface of edge when externaly users want to intiate the connection with internal lync client that times MRAS authentication happens which comes from LYNC EDGe server internal interface.

that y 3478 ports is used.

    Hope this clarifies.

  • Thanks for reply!

Jeff Lync clients use internal Edge for:

first - STUN 3478 UDP for a/v media transfer between internal and external users

second(if the first path is not available) STUN 443 TCP

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg425891.aspx

    Am I right?

Does change port requirements for the client Lync 2013 in comparison with lync 2010?
