Error when transferring files to Lync 2013 after KB2817465

    Question

  • Hi, we used lync 2010 server. Some users use lync 2013 client and after the last update Lync 2013 (KB2817465) files are no longer transmitted point-to-point (from lync 2010 to lync 2013, and from lync 2013 to lync 2013).
    File appears in the conversation as a message and not as a file (open and save labels), when you try to transfer an error
    . Helped to solve the problem only roll back the update. There are other solutions to this problem?

  • Hi,

    Does this happen for all clients?

    I suggest you uninstall lync client, reinstall and re-update it to test the issue.

  • I'm just chiming in to let you know that I too am experiencing this odd behavior on all end-user machines.  I have not personally attributed it this particular update but that would make sense as the problem began around 7/10 when the update was listed as installed by most according to our SUS server.

    I can remove this update but prefer to leave it on, this problem is not the end of the world in my organization as we have another client we are using to transfer files in the interim.  The timeouts are also intermittent and do not prevent successful transfers in all situations.

    I can also confirm as the OP mentioned "File appears in the conversation as a message and not as a file (open and save labels), when you try to transfer an error".  We have the same behavior in this regard as well.

    Looking forward to a real world solution.

  • Same issue with the work network here.

    A 2010 Client to other 2010 Clients work without hassle. However any 2010 -> 2013 / 2013 -> 2013 gives the error message.

    Have tried the typical uninstalls, updates, removal of the specific KB causing the issue to no avail. This was actually the 'top' hit in a search on the issue so hoping something can fix her up soon. Not a 'huge' deal but something that we'd like to get sorted ASAP.

  • Does this fully solve the issue for you?
    In our organization, most clients are running 2010 - they have no issues, images, files everything goes.

    But from 2013 to 2013 or 2013 to 2010 (or the other way round), sending images can be received, but the sender will get an error message (error in transfer). And sending file is a nogo.

  • Same problem here. Fully patched systems but no inline picture or file transfers between 2013 <-> 2013.
    Lync Client 2010 <-> 2013 works fine.

    Please fix this asap, we're in the middle of a rollout...
