  • I get this error opening links in outlook 2010, A box opens labeled Microsoft word "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this comnputer. Please contact your system adninistrator. I am the System admin on this laptop. Has Windows 7 and Office Professional Plus 2010, all installed and updated. Were can I turn this off so links will open in Internet exlorier 8?

  • Usually doing a full reset of IE will fix this. Yes it sounds weird but it works 99% of the time at work.

  • Complied with IE full reset still will not open any Internet links. Word or Outlook both are 2010 all are updated.

  • Have you tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310049 If you had chrome installed it breaks things when you uninstall it.

  • Was not the correct fix. I am running Windows 7 with IE 8 version 8.0.7600.16385. Also Office Pressional Plus 2010. Microsoft Word or Excel, both I cannot open a link or it says "When you click a hyperlink in Microsoft Outlook, you may receive the following error message:
    This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator"
    This was in the right direction but when I ran the fix it responded as not a correct fix for this OS. What is the complete reg string? Maybe an edit will fix this? The fix stated above does not give the full reg string.
