In 2010 there used to be a way of doing this, but it does not seem possible from within Office now?

File-> Account and see About Word/Excel/Power point
For completeness, if you happen to be checking this from within Outlook, then it's in:
File -> "Office Account" -> "About Outlook"
And one more step. "About Excel".
