  • Hi :
It is impossible to mount edb file directly.
If you want to recover database, you should have edb file and log file (stm, chk, etc). You just have edb file now. It is very difficult and it will cost a lot of time. We don’t know whether it is in clean shutdown status.
Use Microsoft's ExMerge utility to mount the *.edb and extract whatever emails you want into a pst file. You can then manually import the emails from the pst into your public folder.

Maybe it is the good way to save time. You can do it by 3 rd tool too.

  • Hi Krisna,

    I have few questions...
That .edb file is of Exchange 2010?
Are trying to mount the same file on to 2010?

  • if you need access to an offline mailbox or public database (EDB) check out Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp which will allow you to open and offline EDB so that you can Browse, Search, Export to PST, MSG, & XML or you can recover mailboxes, folders, and individual items from any offline EDB to any Production Exchange server, (Even cross version).

NOTE: You can obtain a 30 day DEMO license that will allow you to open and browse ANY EDB and even do a randomized export of sample data and then if you want access to the full capabilities you can purchase a project based or perpetual license to meet your needs

  • Same Problem , but I have edb file and log file, can I restore mails from those files?

  • Yes you can restore granular messaging items from the .edb and .log file, however there are some limitations depending on the version of exchange and the method you choose to use for restoration.  To that end

    1. What version of Exchange is this Database from?

    2. What is it you want to accomplish?

  • I'm stuck with similar problems. I have ALL of the original exchange files and am trying to get the emails back into their respective boxes on a freshly installed server. Both versions are Exchange 2010.

  • Please explain further, i.e.

    1. What files do you have and where did they come from, i.e. Exchange 2010 EDB & Log files were obtained from backup, live production server, crashed server.

    2. What do you want to do with these files, i.e. restore them to live exchange server, replacing existing EDB or, migrate/import data from EDB and Log files to --> original production server, alternate exchange server version (2007, 2010, 2013)?

  • Try EDB to PST converter application to restore Exchange server public folder EDB files. The app directly restore priv1.edb file, pub1.edb file without log files from both dirty shutdown and clean shutdown state. It is a perfect solution that recovers corrupt EDB file and converts into PST file format.

Exchange Recovery is a result-driven tool that can recover all e-mails, attachments, tasks, journals, contacts, calendars, as well as permanently deleted email items. Don't let corruption hamper your organization's productivity, simply download our Exchange Recovery tool and restore it back to healthy state.
