About every 10-20 minutes, we receive this error while Outlook 2003 is running:
"Microsoft Office Offline Folders"
The file c:\documents and settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook0.ost is in use and could not be accessed. Close any application that is using this file, and then try again.
The system has Windows XP Pro with SP3 installed. Office XP is installed with Outlook 2003 installed after. E-mail provided by Exchange running on SBS 2003 on the LAN.
Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 is installed, but the mail anti-virus and the anti-spam features have been disabled. In fact, we even paused the full Kaspersky product yet the error continues to pop-up.
iTunes is not and has never been installed and we are not aware of any other software that might be accessing/locking the .OST file.
After closing Outlook, the outlook.exe service does not remain running in task manager.
Turning off Exchange Cache Mode and re-enabling doesn't resolve the issue.
Deleting the OST and letting it rebuild didn't resolve it either.
I've seen a couple posts on this but no solution that seems to work.
Anyone have knowledge of this issue and a solution?
