Outlook 2010 - customizing main Inbox preview pane. How do I get rid of the double preview?

    Question

  • I've recently updated to Windows Outlook 2010 and I'm trying to customize the layout so that it looks like what we are used to, in our older version of Outlook (so that all our users here at work are comfortable with it).  I was easily able to change the general window pane layout...to have the Inbox list of emails on top of the email preview pane (the default was a side-by-side layout), but I notice in the upper pane...where emails are sorted by FROM, SUBJECT, RECEIVED ON...etc. that a large portion of the email body is shown there.  Again, you see the entire email in the lower preview pane.  How do you get rid of the body of the email that is showing up, in the upper pane?  It is sufficient to see the entire email preview in the lower pane...you don't have to have a preview of the preview.

  • Hi,

It sounds like you have turned on the AutoPreview feature which you can turn off it by:

View > View Settings > Other Settings > No AutoPreview
