Visio 2007 SP2 crashes on copy paste operation

    Question

  • Have Visio 2007 SP2, Windows 7 Enterprise. Whenever I open Visio and attempt a copy and paste operation it fails. The copied object could be anything - image or visio shapes.

This is the crash information posted in eventviewer. Any help on this is appreciated.

  • Hi,

Try to disable all add-ins in Visio 2007 to test this issue.

    1. In Visio 2007, click Trust Center on the Tools menu.
    2. Click Add-ins.
    3. In the Manage list, click COM Add-ins, and then click Go.
    4. In the COM Add-Ins dialog box, click to clear the check boxes for all the add-ins in the Add-Ins available list.
    5. Click OK.

    Hope it does help.

  • Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you,

I have been fighting with this for a couple of weeks.  Can't believe the solution is so simple.

  • I was having the exact same problem in Visio 2010.  This was popping up constantly working with Visio objects within a Word document, whether I was working with Visio objects embedded within the document already or new Visio objects I was copying and pasting in.

A quick Bing search brought me here, and fortunately for me I only had one COM add-in enabled, so I didn't have to disable too many.  It was a Send to Bluetooth.  I disabled it, restarted Visio and in a handful of quick tests it seems that this fix works equally well for Visio 2010.

    Thank you!

  • Thank you, Jennifer! COM add-in "Send to Bluetooth" was causing the same issue for me in Visio 2007 SP2. You have restored my sanity.

  • Same problem (and the same solution) with Microsoft Visio Professional 2010. Add-in "Send to Bluetooth" disabled.
