Need to export addresses from autocomplete*.dat (Outlook 2010) to .nk2 format (Outlook 2007)

    Question

  • Hi guys,

We have recently acquired a new small business and they are currently using MS Office 2010, and more importantly, Outlook 2010.  Our domain however, is running MS Office 2007 w/ Outlook 2007.

We would like to export the autocomplete addresses from 2010 and import them into .nk2 for 2007.  I am able to complete this using nk2edit but it is a very longwinded process and cannot be done in bulk either.

Is there a process that we can utilise to complete this with the minimum amount of effort.  Due to the large number of users, manually completing this will be tedious.

    Any help is appreciated

    Kind Regards,

  • Copy the contacts from suggested contacts to the outlook 2007 computers (move them in a pst file, don't export to an non-outlook file type) - they are just normal contacts, stored in a separate folder so as not to 'pollute' the contacts folder with address you may not want saved as contacts.

To add contacts to the NK2 files, address a message with the contacts then close it without sending.

  • Hi,

Will you consider to upgrade to Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010? :)

Try to export the Suggested Contacts from Outlook 2010, and then convert them into .NK2 file with the n2kedit.

To export the Suggested Contacts, click File  > Open > Import > Export to a file > Command Seprated Values (Windows) > Suggested Contacts > Next and Next...
