importing Windows Live Mail contacts into Outlook 2013 only gets names and no contact info

    Question

  • I have tried three times to import my Windows Live Mail 2012 contacts into Outlook 2013 and in every case I'm only able to import the names. Email addresses and other contact information don't get imported. I have carefully followed the instructions on Microsoft's website to export the contacts from WLM as a delimited .csv file and jumped through all the hoops they specified. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

  • I guess you are refering to this support article:

If so, before click Finish in step 23, click Map Custom Fields in stead, make sure the contact information you need has been mapped correctly.

For example, if you need the Email Address information to be imported into Outlook contacts, drag the Email Address field from the list on the left and drop it on the E-mail field in the list on the right.

I'm sorry, but are there really 23 steps needed just to import some contacts into Outlook 2013? Is Microsoft for real? And I thought the 6 or so steps to import data into Excel 2010 was bad enough.

    Bwahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha!!!!!
