Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus Windows 7 Activation Error 0x8007232B

    Question

  • I just recently reinstalled Windows 7 Professional on my laptop and proceeded to install and then start Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus.  Once I started and configured Outlook, it tells me that the activation fails with error code 0x8007232B.

I ran Microsoft Geniune Advantage Diagnostics Tool and this readout for office was created:

  • This error message means that Office 2010 Professional Plus is trying to find a KMS host to activate with.  You have a copy of a volume license edition of Office 2010 that's intended for use at your company or an enterprise.  The solution to this would be to set up a KMS host or use a MAK key.  A MAK key would allow you to enter the key and activate online.  A KMS host would be beneficial if you have many computers at your company and they all need to activate.  They would then be able to activate locally with your KMS host.  More info about activation types here:
