What to do after downloading software?

    Question

  • I've just downloaded Office 2010....because it's an .EXE file, I double clicked on it and it said it was extracting....after about a minute - that window disappeared...but no extracted files.  I've tried this a couple of times.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong.  I've search for the files and can find nothing.  Any help is greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

  • Hi,

You can simply extract exe files by using compression utility such as winrar or 7zip. But it just won’t work for a few exe files such as those that comes from intel website.

As an example, i use Intel SATA/AHCI driver (that can be downloaded here: http://www.drivercabinet.com/intel-ahci-matrix-storage-manager-downloads/)

    To extract the file:

    1. Launch Command Prompt
    2. Go to the directory where you save/download IATA85ENU.exe
    3. Type the following command :
      IATA85ENU.exe /A /P C:\IATA

The files will be extracted to C:\IATA (or any folder that you point in the command above)

    Hope it does help.
