    Question

  • MS Access 2013 is no responding and freezing on windows 8

when i try to type in the drop down list in any heading of any colon to search an filter a value, the MS Access is not responding and freezing, i face this problem only with Access 2013 installed on windows 8.

  • Hi,

Did you get some error messages when Access is not responding and freezing? Had you installed the Office 2013 SP1?

Let's do some tests to narrow down the issue:

    • Start Access 2013 in safe mode (Press win+R>type msaccess.exe /safe). If it works fine in safe mode, the issue may be caused by the add-ins. Please disable all the add-ins and check them one by one.
    • Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us
    • Repair Office 2013

If the issue still exists, please upload the event log. I'll do deeply research.

  • Dear Mr. George Zhao<o:p></o:p>

    Thanks for your co-operation,<o:p></o:p>

1- There is no error message when the access is not responding and freezing.<o:p></o:p>

2- I have updated the MS Office to sp1 three days ago.<o:p></o:p>

3- now i have tried the safe mode, and face the same problem, then there was one add-in it is the Bluetooth but i have disable it so now there is no add-ins enabled, but still the same.<o:p></o:p>

4- then i have tried the System File Checker tool, it returned the following message: Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log <var>%WinDir%</var>\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.  so i followed the instructions to view the details of the system file checker tool, but the .txt file placed in my desktop is empty !!<o:p></o:p>

5- the repairing will not solve the problem because i tried to install MS Office 2013 on different PCs even on new PC, and still facing the same problem.

  • Hi Sir,

Try press Win+R and entry <var>%WinDir%</var>\Logs\CBS\ to find the CBS.log.

Then, would you like to upload the Event log and CBS.log by using OneDrive and share the links in the thread?

    I'll do more deeply research.

There are something wrong about  "Microsoft-Windows-Printer-Drivers-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.9600.16384.INF_prncacla", thus, I recommend you try the 2 methods:

1)If you had the OME chipset drive disk, please find the "Microsoft-Windows-Printer-Drivers-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.9600.16384.INF_prncacla" and copy to the path "C:\Windows\WinSxS".

    2)Upgrade the chipset drive.
