Column Headings

    Question

  • I have a worksheet that displays the row headings but not the column headings.  How do I get the column headings to show so I can hide a column?

  • Sorry to doubt what you way, but I don't think it is possible to have row headings without column headings.

Maybe you have row numbers in column A?
Or maybe the window of the worksheet is not maximised within the Excel window and the title bar and column headings are above the visible area of the Excel window (though I can't find a way to make that happen).

You don't mention which version of Excel, it always helps.

In excel 2003 or earlier try:
    Window > Arrange > Cascade
Tools > Options > View > Row and Column Headers

    In 2007 or 2010:
View > Arrange All > Cascade
    View > Headings

  • I am using Excel 2007.  Sorry you don't believe me.

I have the Veiw > Headings checked but only the row heading show.  I would attach a screen but don't see any way to include an attachment nor can I paste it in.
