Outlook 2013 new mail tray icon is not showing

    Question

  • The icon used to show, but now it disappeared.
I have it enabled in the settings and when right clicking the outlook tray icon it is enabled as well.
I've seen from my searches that it's not showing on IMAP accounts, but my account is POP, and the icon was showing at first.

Starting outlook in safe mode restores the icon, but I don't think I can ever get used to working with safe mode.

Any ideas how to fix this?

  • It is already enabled there but still no envelope icon.

Anyway, I apparently fixed it. Had to run Outlook as administrator. I have no idea why suddenly it wants me to run it as admin, I didn't have to do it before to get the envelope showing, but at least it works now

  • In Outlook 2013
    1. On the File tab, click Options.
    2. Select Mail in the left navigation pane.
    3. In the Message arrival section, click to select the Show an envelope icon in the taskbar check box.
