Outlook 2010 hanging / Error: Cross-thread Deadlock

    Question

  • Hi,

Our office uses a 3rd Party Outlook integration product (Autonomy/FileSite) that allows our users to search a DMS dbase for documents via Add-ins in the  Outlook host application.  Sporadically, some users when  attempting to search the database instead end up hanging Outlook.  The only solution is to restart the application - at which point the search can be retried and is a success.  I looked in the Application Log and find the following error:

eRROR - aPPLICATION hANG  eVENT id 1002  Task Category: (101)

The program OUTLOOK.EXE version 14.0.6117.5001 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Clicking on the "Details" tab reveals the following:

    0008: 73 00 2D 00 74 00 68 00 s.-.t.h.

    0028: 6B 00 00 00 00 00 k.....

I'm totally at a loss as to what is causing this.  The DMS vendor thinks its an Add-on from a different vendor ( Barracuda, Adobe  etc.....  )

I would be greatly appreciative if anybody has any suggestions for me.

  • Hi,

Disable all the add-ins in Outlook except the Autonomy/FileSite.

The issue is more related to the third part add-in and you may contact the support of Autonomy/FileSite to troubleshoot it.
