Email received from a sender using Outlook 2013 includes a Winmail.dat attachment

    Question

  • Hello,

Many users received emails from a sender using Outlook 2013 includes a Winmail.dat attachment. All fix files are for under Outlook 2007 or 2010. Is there the fix program for the Outlook 2013?

    Thanks,

  • There isn't a single fix for all scenarios in which this could happen and more information is required to suggest a solution.

In which format is the email being sent out? Plain Text, Rich Text or HTML?
In which format is it stored in the Sent Items folder?
In which format is it being received?

Have the sender verify that the sending properties for the recipients hasn't been to Rich Text either.

  • Thanks for your rapid response...

    For your question..

    1. In which format is the email being sent out? Plain Text, Rich Text or HTML? => The file types are various sent from/to such as docx, png, and xls
    2. In which format is it stored in the Sent Items folder?=>All extentions of the attached files in it are the same things.
    3. In which format is it being received? =>This problem occasionally shows to send or receive the emails...It has the same problem for being sent out...

  • The questions are regarding the message format, not the file types of the attachments.
