SharePoint Designer 2013 with SharePoint server 2010?

    Question

  • Hi,

Can I use SharePoint Designer 2013 with SharePoint Server 2010 or I must use SPD 2010?

    Thank you in advance

  • Whilst I can't find a definintive answer, there are a few major differences to be aware of, such as: -

    • The removal of the Web Design View
    • Significant changes in Workflow

If there is a valid business reason for wanting to use SPD2013 with SP2010, I imagine there'll be some compatability, but it may be best to stick with SPD2010 for now.

  • Thank you for you answer Mr. Andrews. In SPD 2013 they are Loop-Actions and in SPD 2010 I cant define a LOOP because of that, do you now a way how I can define a loop in SPD 2010?

    thank you in advance

  • Hi Ali,

I remember this being removed specifically for SPD2010 and see it's been restored within SPD2013.  There are some workarounds for the 2010 limitation, such as this one: -
