Deleting all items in a conversation

    Question

  • I believe that I used to be able to click on the top message (header message with the triangle) of a conversation and delete it to delete all the items associated with that conversation, including Sent Items.  In fact, I used to to get a warning pop-up telling me that this will delete all the mail items.

So, if mail items associated in a conversation are filed in different folders, deleting the top mail item appears to only delete the mail items in that folder...

Can it be setup to delete all the mail items in that conversation regardless of which folder those mail items are located?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

To delete all items in a conversation in your Outlook:

•Open a message in the conversation you want to ignore.

•Go to the Home tab in the main Outlook window's ribbon.

•Click Ignore in the Delete area.

•You can also press Ctrl-Del instead of using the ribbon.

•Click OK if you are prompted to confirm your action.

•Click Ignore Conversation if you are prompted again.

    Sincerely

  • This is apparently working as designed.  it will not delete the sent items that are part of the conversation.

  • Thanks for the information... This will do it, but what if I want to still see new mail items that come in?  If I ignore the conversation, then I won't see anything new that comes in.  I'd just like to delete all the mail items associated with a conversation for that point in time.  Anything new that comes in, would in effect start a new conversation.
