  • which gateway did you use, Lync test the gateway and if this tests failed the gateway will be marked down for a time. So it looks like the configuration of the gateway doesn't match with the Lync configuration. If you use SRTP check that the security on the GW is the same like the trunkonfiguration.

  • Gateways are AudioCodes Mediant 1000 - MSBG, firmware v6.40A.028, with Media Security Disabled

I tried to use Snooper and the Syslog to monitor the OPTIONS SIP from Lync to the gateway, but because this is happening only once a day or so, the logs get huge :-(

  • Hi,Claus,

Do you get 408 Request Timeout sip error? If so there is a gateway timed out waiting for response on PSTN interface, would you please check if there is a timeout that you can configured on your gateway?

Would you also please check the event log in Lync service under "application and services Logs" to find the mediation server and gateway related?

Also please make sure you have installed the latest CU5 on your Lync server including Mediation server.

  • I don't see a 408 Request Timeout, I get a 503 Service Unavailable

Lync is v4.0.7577.184 (CU4), and the errors i see in the Lync Eventlog is previously listed

  • Hi Claus, ok, you should first update to the latest Audiocodes firmware 6.40A.037.005, because this will fix some errors with the gateway. Check also that you only allow the PCM-A or PCM-U Codec in AC gw to the Lync mediationserver.

  • Hi Holger,
The last AudioCodes firmware I have is v6.40A.030.008 :-(

Can your send the me the 6.40A.037.005 version ?

Why do you think a codec may be of importance for this error?

  • Hi Claus-Ole,

you should get the latest firmware from your AC distributor. But we had problems with the old 6.40A because of performance. We have also configured to sen Fax codec to the mediation server and the mediation service had then a execution error. So we configured the GW only to send PCM-a and PCM-u. Also with the newest Firmware we have a lot of less error calls in the Lync monitoring dashboard.
