  • Sapna,

Thank you for the quick response.   The issues stated in the posts does not apply in my situation.  Added note:Only Excel with xls extensions work for me.   Converting xlsm to xls is not an option for me.

I should ask.  Can someone tell me if there were able to import Excel files with xlsm extension.     Thank you

    Pete H

No, it is not possible to import Excel files with either the xlsx or the the xlsm file extension.  This is simply a limitation of the Import/Export Wizard.  Sorry.  Hope this helps.

  • Dale,

Thank you for response.  Yes, it helps.  Now I know I need another option or workaround.  Thanks,

  • Dale,

I'm not sure how this helps.  I have over 300 projects in an xlsm file that I created from scratch in Excel 2010.  Project 2013 gives the error message noted in the original post.

So how is it helpful to know that MS in their infinite wisdom doesn't support importing from a fairly current version of Excel into Project 2013?

    Thanks,

    Rod

I do not work for Microsoft.  I am a volunteer in this forum and I simply reported how the tool actually works, even though that obviously does not please you.  Hope this helps.

  • For clarification, Project 2013 will import xlsx files not xlsm files.  The Excel macros will not function in Project so they will be of no use to you.

  • How stupid is this??? takes hours to find this out (if true), whay isn't this clearly stated in the wizard and/or error message.
