    Pergunta

  • Hi,

My client doesn't receive update from WSUS server recently. I able to access http://wsusserver/iuident.cab and http://wsusserver/selfupdate/au/x86/xp/en/wuaucomp.cab  and keep on receive error code 80072EFD.

Below is my windowsupdate.log error :

  • 2013-09-17 16:40:20:130 1092 ce40 Misc WARNING: WinHttp: SendRequestUsingProxy failed for <http://wsusserver:8530/selfupdate/wuident.cab>. error 0x80072efd

Simply stated, the 0x80072EFD error means nothing is answering the call at the other end of the connection.

In most cases this is due to some type of network infrastructure fault.

    • The client is getting an incorrect IP Address for the configured hostname and there's no webserver on that address.
    • The client cannot route to the provided IP Address and the requests are being dropped by a router.
    • A proxy server sitting between the client and IP Address drops the packets rather than returning the expected HTTP 403.
    • The WinHTTP Proxy configuration is not set correctly and the request is not getting to a proxy server to be handled.

    I able to access http://wsusserver/iuident.cab and http://wsusserver/selfupdate/au/x86/xp/en/wuaucomp.cab

Since you're apparently able to access that URL via a browser on port 80, but the WUAgent cannot access it on port 8530, you might start with the possibility that the port number is incorrect, although the web server should be returning an HTTP 404 error if only the port number is incorrect.

Another possible cause since we know there is actually a webserver at http://wsusserver, is that the WinHTTP Proxy is not properly configured on the client. This client appears to not be configured to use a proxy.

  • I did not specify any proxy server inside WSUS console

Yes, I noticed. That was my point. Does the browser use a proxy?
and what is port 8530 used for?
WSUS. But, then, given that question... why is the client configured to communicate with that port?

  • May I know if I have standalone WSUS and also SCCM 2007 installed at the same server, will it conflict each others?

There are several reasons why installing WSUS on a Configuration Manager 2007 Site Server could be problematic. If the WSUS Server is not part of the Configuration Manager environment (i.e. configured as a CM Software Update Point), then don't install it on a Configuration Manager server.

  • You mention not to install WSUS on the same server as Configuration Manager server

I'm saying it's a bad design decision; not that it won't work.

so means I need to install WSUS at another server?

You should evaluate that option as a desirable thing to do.

Is that able to solve my problem?

Impossible to say since we don't know what's causing the problem right now. If you perform the same procedure and duplicate the same error, then it probably won't work after moving it either.

  • I remember I also using http:wsusserver:8530 for the configuration and it works all the time.

I used solarwind wsus checker and it mention remote to WSUS server failed. Below is my result

If I do not specify port 8530

content: Error: Forbidden (Incorrect proxy client configuration - use settings tab to test proxy configuration settings; may also be caused by misconfigured SSL implementation or access rights on WSUS server)

    if I specify port 8530

Error: ConnectFailure (Cannot Connect – caused by a network infrastructure fault making the Windows Update unavailable to the client system)
