Access internal website via external names
- I have a 2006 ISA server with 3 NICs, one internal, one external and one not used. A week ago the external NIC died so I switched the external network over to the "spare" NIC and all was well or so I thought. Prior to this issue I was able to access websites hosted internally with their external names. http://www.mysite.com worked both internally and externally. Since the NIC change this no longer works.
Yes the websites work with internal IPs/names and yes they work from outside the network with external names. And yes I know I can setup internal names in my local DNS but I'd rather not have to do this twice one for inside and once for outside.
Anyone have any idea why this no longer works or how to get this working again?

- Rob, Do you have the ability to put a machine in the same subnet as the external NIC of ISA Server and test (using a host file)? I would start there.

According to you description, I think you should use split DNS to achieve your goal.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm sure there's another way around this issue as I didn't have Spit DNS setup before changing the external NIC on the ISA server. I'm not opposed to seating it up I just don't want to do extra work when I know it worked before without it.
An additional Note: Not only can I not access internal websites using external names but ActiveSync also doesn't work using the external name of my mail server. Again all this worked before changing the NIC.
