Has anyone ever carry out the following before;
-User DPM 2010 to restore Windows 2003 System State
-Restore Virtual machine to a physical machine
-Use DPM 2010 to restore SystemState to Machine of dissimilar hardware
-Simulate the Domain controller restore from a virtual machine to a physical, if it is possible, what are the pit fall
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi VicAbh,
For 2003 there is a different tool that you use for BMR it is called SRT. Here is a post with information on how to use it: http://www.ms4u.info/2010/12/bmr-on-windows-server-2003-using-dpm.html .

Hello,
BMR for 2003 via DPM 2010 is not possible.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff399494.aspxUnsupported Scenarios
The following scenarios are not supported for BMR:
• Computers running Windows Server 2003.
• Computers running client operating systems like Windows XP or Windows Vista or Windows 7.
• A DPM server cannot protect itself for BMR.
• Disk-Tape protection is not supported for BMR. However, long-term to tape with short-term to disk (D-D-T) is supported.
You would have to use SRT. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb795768.aspx
Thanks
