"The EXCH provider section is missing from the Autodiscover response." On single mailbox
-
quarta-feira, 24 de agosto de 2011 17:02We have a single mailbox with this issue, the RCA tool returns the message:
The EXCH provider section is missing from the Autodiscover response.
No other mailboxes have issues with Outlook anywhere but this one user is unable to use their mailbox from Outlook. I tried creating a fresh mailbox for this user and completely deleted the old one but this didn't seem to work. anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve this?
This is Exchange 2010, SP1 with all update rollups applied.

There are the EXCH and EXPR sections in the Autodiscover response. On the user's PC, hold the Ctrl key down, click the Outlook icon in the system tray, select Test E-mail AutoConfiguration, enter the user's e-mail address and password, clear the Guessmart checkboxes and then click Test. The "Protocol: Exchange RPC" is the EXCH section, and the "Protocol: Exchange HTTP" is the EXPR or Outlook Anywhere section.

If only one person is having this issue, it seems unlikely that it's something wrong with the server. But run Test E-mail AutoConfiguration and see what you get on his PC and on one that works. Perhaps he can't resolve Autodiscover or has a certificate or some other issue that's peculiar to his workstation.

quinta-feira, 25 de agosto de 2011 02:00I've pretty much ruled out a server issue. I can't get this user's account configured using autoconfigure on a freshly imaged VM. Any other user in our exchange org works perfectly.
As I said I even deleted the user's mailbox, removed the disconnected, and created a fresh one. What else could I be missing here? The AD user object is nothing special either. Is my next step to totally delete the account and start over? I prefer not to do that given the SID and ACL issues that would present.
Thanks for any insight. -

Post the results of Test E-mail Autoconfiguration.

This is going to sound silly but how do I copy the results? The log tab is a list view and doesn't allow copy/paste.
We're using the SRV record method for autodiscover. Everything is fine up until this point: I'm typing these lines in manually
SRV Record for research.osu.edu starting
Autodiscover URL redirection to https://mail.research.osu.edu/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
Autodiscover to https://mail.research.osu.edu/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml starting
GetLastError=0; HTTP Status 200.
Autodiscover to https://mail.research.osu.edu/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml FAILED (0x800C8202)
SRV record lookup for research.osu.edu FAILED (0x800C8202)
Would it help to post the RCA output here as well?thanks again.

It's a shame you can't copy and paste from that window, I agree.
If that's the correct URL, it's saying that Outlook can't get Autodiscover. Be sure that they don't have nonstandard network settings, particularly DNS configured on that workstation. See if you can ping mail.research.osu.edu.
Is this machine a domain member?

This workstation's network connectivity is okay. And a test with any other user account information from the same station is successful. I've tried this from both a domain and non-domain station with the same results. But this test was from a domain machine. Also note that our internal and external URIs are identical as the CAS server is the same for both.

The only way we resolved this was to completely delete the users exchange and AD account and start from scratch. A real wierd one, for sure.- Marcado como Resposta P. Bossley segunda-feira, 12 de setembro de 2011 20:11
