\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM - file missing or corrupt
-
sábado, 6 de fevereiro de 2010 05:25I keep the message in the title line every time I tur on my computer. My computer runs MS Windows XP with SP 3. I got the OS already installed on my Acer Apsire One Netbook, and I don't think it came with the installation disk.
I've tried to repair the problem using the recovery console from an installation disk for Windows XP with SP1. My theory was to copy the missing/corrupt file. It didn't work, and kept saying the system could not find the specified file. I don't knw if my parameters were all correct.
My questions:
1. Should I have received an installation disk with the Netbook?
2. Was I using the recovery console correctly to copy the file?
3. How do I fix the problem outlined above?; and
4. I know others with the same Netbook and OS. Is there a way to do a quick auto-recover if this happens to them?

There are several options for that problem, as you can read about right here .

segunda-feira, 8 de fevereiro de 2010 04:07Hi.
Thanx so much for your solution. You saved all the data in my computer. The solution I was given from the ACER techie was to restore my unit to factory settings which would've erased all my data - something I cannot afford.
So, thank you very much! -

JagSovereign, were you able to access the Windows recovery console? I have the same problem as you, a missing config file on my Acer netbook. I've tried to boot from an XP CD but couldn't get the computer to read it. I have a system disk but it boots to the Acer recovery module that will only allow me to reinstall, which of course would overwrite the C drive. -

I cannot afford to do that or I would have taken to the person who rebuilt this computer to fix it. If I have spoken wrong then please forgive me. But when I hit the place that you said loads of help were at I got sent to a couple differrent places then the page that had things that cost money.- Sugerido como Resposta Oliver garth sexta-feira, 6 de julho de 2012 03:53
