I need to help a customer configure some stuff on one of their servers.  I can see their desktop using Live Meeting but I'd like to be able to then open a VNC session from their desktop to help them out, we just can't figure how he can allow me as the presenter to take control of his desktop.

    Hi eohalloran,

If you want to take control of your customer’s machine, you can promote your client to presenter after both of you get into the LiveMeeting session. The detailed steps are:

Click “Attendees” àRight click the name of the customeràClick “Promote to presenter”

Then customers click “Content”à “Share”à “Share your desktop” à“All” to share their desktop. If you want to get control of their desktop, you need to follow the steps below:

    1.     In the LiveMeeting Console, click “Content” then you will see the “Desktop---xx”.

    2.     Right click “Desktop---xx”à“Request Control”

    3.     The attendees will see your request “xx is requesting control, click here to share control” on their desktop and click it.

    4.    On your screen, you will see “You have been control of the sharing session” and click “OK”

Now you can control the desktop of the attendees.

If you don’t want the attendees have the high permissions as presenters, you also can make them share the desktop through giving them permissions to use “Content pane”. The detailed steps are as below:

Ensure you have at least presenter permission, then In the LiveMeeting Console:

    1.     Click “attendees” à“<< (more)” à “permissions”

    2.     Check the box “Use Content Tools”

After configure the attendees’ permission, they can see the content pane.

    Hope this helps.
