    Hello there,

I'd like to know how to give all access to my .txt .odt .doc created under windows XP, cus since i use 7, i can open these files but i can't to modify them (access denied).
Ok, i can change the properties of access but i have to do it one by one and i have over 300 files. Can i do it once for all to not to care anymore ?

    Thanx a lot.

    P.

Can't you just highlight all the files in Windows Explorer, right click and select properties, and then change the permissions all at once?

    pelerin86,

Is this a dual boot setup? It's easier to give the permissions booted into Windows XP. Assign 'Everyone' as full access.
Otherwise you will have to take ownership of all the files.

I could not find this mentioned before, here goes.  The MS Updates site offers, on Win-7, 30 updates for languages. I do not want any but they show up every time that I access the site. In XP and prior, one could use some Admin rights and select to not be shown the unwanted updates.

Can it be done in Win-7 ? To prevent them to be installed, I had to select a manual, a selective acceptance of Updates.

Win-7 is doing great here to the extend that I have already ordered the introduction upgrade CDs for my two systems.

Hello P.             I find that if I 2-click on a .doc, I can not see it but if I open Office (Word) 2007 via the yellow ball at the to left corner of the menu bar, then Open, it takes me to the Documents folder and there I can open and use any .doc.          Do not aks me why, it is just so here.

You can hide update which you do not want to install.

    Hello Robinson.

Thanks for prompting me to "hide" all language updates. I could not see where this could be done but your insisting on it had me search for a solution. Not evident ! I right click on any of them and a select : Hide Update did it.  Now, I have peace of mind.   Thanks.     I even went to Help and there was no instructions there at all baout "hiding" anything.

                 Have a great day.    handcuff.

NB:  what is your solution to the .doc dilemma ?
