[Previously posted in the MS Answers W7 Files, Folders and Search forum with no response.]
Trying to copy a previous version of a folder, I encountered this fault:

The full path to the file involved is
D:\Mail\(0) Noel.B\Inbox\00294823-00000001.emlIs Previous Versions (taken from the daily restore point) fussy about spaces or periods in folder names? If not, what other reason could there be for this error? How do I specify a different file name?

Hi,
Because of filenames either being too long or containing invalid charactters.
you may try to use Robocopy for a test.

Thanks. I showed you the filename and path - which are the invalid characters? The 8.3 folder name is (0)NOE~1.B - is this 'invalid'? The path is 46 characters.
How do I use Robocopy to copy a folder from a volume shadow or whatever form the restore point data are stored in?Noel

Hi,
You may try it and I also find a similar thread below.
