Maybe this is a feature request; but it's amazing to me that there's no way to start a remote assist session from the dashboard. It would be great if I could right-click on a computer in the Intune dashboard and choose "Remost Assist". There are lots of times when I need to log into a client's computer when they are not there (lunchtime, for example) so that when they return their computer "just works again".

For now, I must stick to LogMeIn and other solutions.

    Hi Bill,

Yes, right now the user must initiate the request for remote assistance.

We appreciate your feedback.  We will keep your feedback in mind as we explore features for future versions.

    Thanks,

A couple of points to consider are privacy and security.  As a long time administrator for Microsoft networks and SMS/SCCM, and especially as a teacher of these products, I often hear from others about the desire to shadow a user, log into their computers without them knowing it, or log on in remote assistance without prior user consent.

I'm sure we can all agree that we could benefit during certian circumstances and times in order to help users and enhance the security of our network.  However, keep in mind that opening a door into another persons active profile without requiring consent could also be an avenue for a "bad guy" to do so.  In this regard, we need to be aware of what a "super user" privilege that would be, perhaps among the highest privileges an administrator could have.  I know certain technology savvy executives who would balk at adminstrators being able to do so as they'll think of the ramifications from the legal side of things.

I would say if such a feature existed that organizations have a very strong auditing policy in place to monitor an administrator doing this, and probably a chain-of-command policy to only authorize it with executive approval, similar to a change management request.

With certain laws like cyber stalking, HIPPA, SOX, etcetera, in place, you just need to be careful, judicious and above all, get it in writing!

Dave - I think the request is for us to be able to request control. The user should get a popup asking them if they want to allow it. This would have none of the mentioned security or privacy concerns.

I'd like to 2nd the request for administrator-initiated control. We're a 1500 user company, and not having this functionality is a deal breaker for us.

Being able to initiate a remote control session would be a huge plus for me. 50% of the computers I manage are 1000 miles away so being able to remote into them from anywhere was a huge plus. When I'm in the office I can use RDP, but being able to share screens if someone is there is helpful.
