Fix Active Directory Domain Services issues
AD RMS uses Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) to look up users that are publishing and consuming rights-protected content. If AD DS is not available, users will not be able to use AD RMS.
Use the following to fix Active Directory Domain Services issues:
- Ensure that the AD RMS service account has read access to AD DS
- Check network connectivity to the AD DS global catalog servers
- Open TCP port 3268 on global catalog servers
- Check if Lightweight Directory Address Protocol (LDAP) connection pool registry overrides are correct
- Restart the AD RMS server
no use and iam unable to protect the document in client side also.im getting error as
."Unexpected error occurred. please try again later or contact your system administrator
in microsoft office 2010.

Please make sure that your client computer points to your to the correct internal DNS server as primary one. Once done, use nslookup to check that all is okay with DNS resolution.
Also, make sure that there is no firewall blocking traffic between the client computer and DCs and AD RMS server.
Please run IRMCheck tool and post here the output. You can use Microsoft Skydrive to upload the output. You have to download that: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=1479
