    Dear All,

    I have got the follwoing error meesage when installing forefront client security at windows xp machine: Log files is below:

    Anyone has idea. Thanks on advance

      Looking at that log it looks as though it already has a Forefront client installed on it.

      Is there a client in Add/Remove programes?

      Also, have you enabled the latest client update in WSUS?  What is the date of that client that you have in WSUS?

        If you have Microsoft Security Essentials installed that will be the cause of this problem.
        You will need to uninstall MSE in order to install Forefront.

          I have the same problem.  I receive an error message stating "A newer version of the product is already installed on this system".  Here is the copy of the log file

          I have uninstalled Microsoft Essentials, but this did not help.  I have search the registry for Forefront and Essentils and found nothing.  The bolded line above indicates I have a newer version, but I do not.   The version I'm trying to install is  Version 1.5.1973.0.

              Yes, I have tried to search the registry for this entry and several others but nothing.  To me this is very strange.  I have rebooted this computer and nothing.  My thought now is to look through the registry under the installed programs section and see what I find.

                Just a thought from what I have experianced. It won't intstal because you are at a later patch level already (at least that is what I have experianced in the past). Do this:

                 1. Download the latest patch for the client.

                 2. Take the patch and extract the contents of the patch (You will have to find the correct switch) to a directory.

                 3. Copy the extracted files to your client install folder while matching the files names (substituting the older files with the newer ones). If I remember correctly it is only a couple files.

                 4. Try the install again.

                  Resolution:  I deleted "every entry" (about 27 or more....I think I lost track) within the windows registry related to "Microsoft AntiMalware" and this fixed it.  Meaning, I was able to install Microsoft Forefront.
