This installation is with a new Open Value agreement. So far I haven't found that I qualify for any support from Microsoft. Is this true or am I missing something?

Hi,
It looks like the initial pre-req's have passed OK, so we would need to see the relevant section of the momdb.log file
See if you can find the section with the errors, and post just before and after and I'm sure we can take a look
cheers
Chris

Hi,
this one initially shows a problem
MSI (s) (0C!9C) [09:10:36:134]: Note: 1: 2711 2: MOMReporting
Action start 9:10:34: _VerifyPreRequisites.
GetMsiFeatureState: Failed to get feature state. Error Code: 0x80070646. MOMReportingSo there is a problem with the pre-req's
There are some tips here http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2197233&SiteID=17 relating to SQL Service Pack and some other tips for troubleshooting.
Also here http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/29844139/installing-opsmgr-on-a-na.aspx
Is it x86 all the way with x86 SQL ? What version of SQL Service Pack are you running ?
Also have a look at the entry
VerifyPreRequisites: Result of Pre-Req check: PreReq_Requirements_Not_Met . See PreReq report for details: \MOMPreReqReport.html. Error Code: 0x80004005.
What is in the MOMPreReqReport.html file ?

18 martie 2008 04:22Does MOM need to be installed before I try the install? I have gone through the deployment guide and it doesn't say anything about it being a pre-req.

This is in the MOMPreReqReport. I haven't changed the name of the server, but I'm not the orginal administrator. Any fixes for this?
The computer name has changed after SQL server was installed. SQL server must be reinstalled. MOM Database
MOM Reporting
The computer name has changed after SQL server was installed. SQL server must be reinstalled. For more information look at SQL Books Online. -
18 martie 2008 04:45I did a query of the database server with SELECT @@SERVERNAME and it returned SERVER, the proper name of the server. So it's not a NULL value.
-
18 martie 2008 07:57Actually, doing the queries:Select @@Servername
Select ServerProperty('machinename')Both returned SERVER. I should be getting this error if the two values are inconsistent but they're not. So i don't know what's going on. Any ideas?
Anyone know if I get support from MS with an Open Value license?

Hi,
Re the issue for the server name, take a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/303774 you can rename a SQL Server OK, but sounds like the script hasn't been run
I don't believe you can get "free" support from MS with an open license, you could pay per incident...

Still doesn't work. Same error in the MOMPreReqReport.
We pay all this money for the licenses but still can't call MS for support. I'll be recommending another product next time.

Hi,
If you don't have a contract with Microsoft Support you will not be able to place a call. If this problem is still occurring for you I would like to help you out over this channel. Can you let me know if you are installing on a Windows Server 2008 system?
thanks,

I am having this same issue and have tried all of the above solutions with no luck. I am running Server 2008 x86 with SP2. The server names in SQL are correct and match.
Thanks, Adam

2 iunie 2010 14:16One thing to watch out for is that the installer insists on trying to install the databases into the default SQL Server location C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data and if when you installed SQL Server you changed this then the installer will just give up, get it's coat and go home (nice programming people). The solution to this is to change the default database location back to the above default, install the software, and then move the databases to the actual location where they should be.
