    Dear All,

Our Exchange version is 2007 , previous our server only have 6GB memory include all roler and it has 200 mail box , database size about 130GB. Previous the exchange seems not stable sometime suddenly hung and I check the Windows Task Manager Performance always have only few memory free , sometime drop to 0 , we suspect the exchange is not enough the memory , so I have add 8GB monery on the server , however I have check the Windows Task Manager Performance it also only have 100mb memory free. Before the mail storage service only use about  2GB momoery , now mail storage service use more 8GB memoery , why have this Symptom occur ?How can I free more memoery reserve to use ?

    Thanks,

    Ricky

Exchange will use nearly all the memory you give it to cache mailbox content.  This is something that has been true since the beginning of Exchange.  It's nothing to worry about, Exchange will release memory if other tasks need it.

6GB of memory isn't much for an Exchange server with all roles.  If adding more memory hasn't solved your stability problems, then you should ensure youre running at the latest service pack and rollup hotfix level, and you should look at whatever third-party software you're running on the system.

The process that uses up all the memory is store.exe.  It will release memory as needed.  If you suspect a memory leak, examine other services' behavior to see if they keep growing.  In such a case, store.exe should start decreasing in size as the leaky processes keep demanding memory.  Performance Monitor can help with this.

To understand how Exchange memory management works, you can refer this article http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2008/08/06/3406010.aspx

Also you can limit the memory usage of Exchange. http://eightwone.com/2010/03/25/limiting-exchange-2010-database-cache/

How's your disks setup? Do you have all logs and DB on the same drive?
