    Hello,

     

    I’ve tried to install the new Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2010 SP 2 (downloaded from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2661854) hoping to fix a possible bug of New-MailboxImportRequest but the update fails with error code 1603.

     

    I am running Exchange Server 2010 SP2 RU1 on a single server with CAS, HT, and Mailbox roles installed.

     

    I’ve enabled Windows Installer logging but I’ve no idea how to interpret it. If an Exchange Team support member is interested in I could send the log file offline.

    Can you run Exbpa - Exchange Best Practices analyzer from Toolbox - And Verifiy Sp2 is completely installed

    Have you ever manually removed Exchange and reinstalled it ?

    Hello,

     

    Thank you for the input, Satheshwaran, but I found the problem and its solution.

    I took a time to go through the log file and after a little research I found this similar post (about RU1 on SP1): http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesoftwareupdate/thread/71b475cb-e998-4a31-9afe-a37dd09a5eeb/

    I also went through cases in the Troubleshooting Update Rollup Installations TechNet article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff772434%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx

     

    My solution was:

    1. Set-ExecutionPolicy from RemoteSigned to Unrestricted
    2. Execute the MSP installation file from an elevated command prompt (instead of double-clicking on the MSP file)
    3. After the installation was completed I set the Execution policy back to RemoteSigned

    Until today I was using Windows Update to install the Exchange Update Rollups and I did not have this issue.

    Hello,

    had also problems, Exchange Sp2 and RU1 no problem, RU2 rolling back all the time. I solved it by turning off UAC ( to the lowest level). Maybe this is an option for some people.
