Sharepoint Designer 2007 created workflows are not viewable in Sharepoint Designer 2010
-
8 august 2012 15:13I have 4 workflows that were created in Sharepoint Designer 2007, prior to our database attach upgrade to Sharepoint 2010. The workflows are still running and doing what they were designed to do, but I need to adjust them. The workflows alert a staff group, via email, when new documents are added to a library, or existing ones are modified. When I open the site, then document library in Sharepoint Designer 2010, there are no workflows listed. One of my other sites that was migrated the same way, has the same workflows configured and they are actually displayed. How do I get around this issue on the site I'm having the problem with?

Hi,
Please note that SharePoint Designer is not bacward compatible and unfortunately SharePoint Designer 2010 would not work with old version workflow.

Hi Brian,
Thank you for the posting. I have read over it and understand that when you browse to the list in SPD that the workflow doesn’t show, but if you click on “Workflows” on the left hand side does it appear? If so open it up and publish, then go back to the list and see if it shows up.

Gregg,
Unfortunately, that's my problem. On this particular site, when I click on the workflows link under Navigation in the left column of SPD, they are not displayed.

Hi Brian,
Can you click on Site Assets or Site Pages and it display anything? Also if you click all files, and click on workflows under there do they appear?

10 august 2012 18:22No, I get a "There are no files in this folder" message from both Site Assests and Pages links. When I open all files and click on workflows link or expand the document library's folder(s), I do not see the workflows listed.

Hi Brian,
At this point, unless anyone else on the forums has anything else to add, it would be good to open up a support case with Microsoft so we can look directly at your workflow and diagnose the issue.
