When the sleep buutton is pressed the PC turns off, or if the time for it to go to sleep it turns off.

If you change the settings to hibernation it does the same thing.

The Beta version of SP1 worked fine.

I have now uninstalled SP1 and sleep works fine.

You have to post some information about your Hardware. Have you installed all drivers? Which powerplan do you use?

When your machine turns off, is it a clean shutdown or do you see the "Your system did not shut down properly" next time you start up? Can you please run "powercfg /a" and post the results here?

    Don-

Can you try to see if it's sleep or hibernate?

    1. Hibernate: shutdown -h

    2. Sleep:
    2a. Turn off hybrid sleep:powercfg -setacvalueindex SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_SLEEP 94ac6d29-73ce-41a6-809f-6363ba21b47e 0
    2b. Start...Sleep

    Thanks!

    Hi guys,

I just applied SP1 (RTM) to my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 rig yesterday. I also found that the PC would shut down instead of sleep, whereas this was working fine before SP1. I took John's advice above and disabled hybrid sleep (which is the default setting in W7 I think). Now sleep works fine for me, so it's just the hibernation that is failing. I can live with that for now.

    Here's my rig info:

ASUS P7H55D-M EVO Mobo with Core i3-540 no O/C.

    4 GB RAM.

Latest Intel HD graphics driver v15.21.10.64.2291 (8.15.10.2291)

    Intel chipset drivers 9.1.1.1025

I reproduced the problem with ASUS BIOS version 1503 and the latest version 1604.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Chers,

    Garry
