Hello all people,
I have bought Windows 7 in home version and I wanted to connect to a Windows 2008R2 through Remonte Desktop : and I can't
Normal in Home version...ok...M$...So I decided to upgrade my Windows to the Professionnal version through the MS basic process in live connection...
=> After Upgrade : I still can't connect my PC to a Windows 2008R2 where as it's works to connect to a Windows 2003.
In my office, I have a Windows 7 pro but directly in Professional without upgrade..And it works !
Is there someone has a similar situation ?
And what do I have as support after a conform upgrade from my personnal computer ??
Thanks for your helps
Hervé

Hi,
Check your network settings first, and enable port 3389, meanwhile temporarily disable firewall and antivirus for testing.
Windows 7 Home editions can connect to remote computer as a RDP client, it just cannot be a RDP server. However if he needs to be connect to a remote network via VPN first, Home editions cannot work.
Another question is how could you connect to this Windows 2008 R2 and where is this server location? If it is in your office and your problematic Windows 7 is out of office, you should map this subnet server to the Internet.Remote Desktop Connection: frequently asked questions

Hello Ivan,
Thanks for your response,
I have worked yesterday on this issue and I think have found the cause maybe : Thinprint client windows (soft to retrieve local printers into TSE for exemple through the RDP port 3389 by default)
Before I have check off course a telnet IP 3389 : ok, try to found out a bad trace with wireshark, try to connect to a vm in the same vlan without vpn, firewalls, etc... and the same...
After I have uninstall client thinprint and It seems to work...
I'm going to try this evening and another point too...
I close this billet
