We're having a problem that Outlook 2010 will not exit properly when Lync 2010 is installed. We've traced it down to the Online Meeting Add-in. When the add-in is enabled in Outlook, Outlook will not close properly. Instead, the Outlook icon in the system tray turns gray and says "Outlook is Closing", which never happens. It does not matter whether Lync is running or not. Just if the add-in is enabled.
So far, we have consistently reproduced this with Outlook 2010, Lync 2010, and Vista. All products are fully updated. The problem does not appear to exist when running on Windows 7, or with Outlook 2007.
Has anyone else seen this problem?

We encounter exactly the same issues you describe, only then with Win7 x64, Office 2010 x64 and Lync 2010 x64
Currently starting to investigate...

Some answered this in another thread. Quoted below:
This is a known issue with Lync 2010 and Outlook 2010. There is a fix slated to be released in the future, but in the meantime, the issue should go away if you enable logging in the Lync 2010 client. Follow these instructions:
- Click the Gear shaped icon on the main interface for the Lync 2010 client.
- On the General Tab, check the "Turn on Logging in Lync" checkbox.
- Restart Lync and Outlook and retest.
Please let me know if this fixes your problem.

We are experiencing exactly the same issue (outlook 2010 won't exit after installing Lync on vista workstations) I would like to know if there is a specific patch which fixes this issue. We normally update all critical patches in our environment using CCM.

Turning on logging in Lync didn't solve the problem here. Disabling the online meeting plugin did help however.
23 февраля 2012 г. 13:49The latest patch for Lync (Cumulative Update 4) for the client fixes this issue you are seeing with Outlook not closing properly.
