Windows Media Center downloads guide listings updates but does not apply them

First, I love Windows 7 Media Center, even more than TiVo. Unfortunately, it suffers from issues whereas TiVo never does.
Recently, my Windows 7 Media Center stopped integrating listings updates. It will successfully download listings (guide) updates; the event log says that it has successfully loaded them; but they aren't. I have only 8 days of listings (going down by a day every day, of course).
My cable provider changed about a dozen of their digital (QAM) channel numbers between April 10-12. Would that make WMC unable to integrate listings updates? (If so, why? Doesn't WMC get notifications of new and deleted channels?)
This happened about a week ago, too, and I tried a few things. I deleted eHome/Packages/EpgListings and did an update. No dice. What finally seemed to work was running the Object Store Recovery scheduled task and restarting the PC. I tried those things again, and nothing worked this time.
There are four mcepg0-0 folders. mcBackup copies only mcepg3-3, so I think only one of them is "active." (A couple were created because I ran the OSR task twice.) I'm not sure whether I should delete the others or if I can simply rename the 3-3 folder to 0-0. (I'm sorry. I may have the folder names slightly wrong because I'm not in front of WMC.)
I've read in some threads that I should re-scan my provider from scratch. That's very destructive to my setup, so it's a last resort for me. It takes me an hour or two to map all of the listings and add channels that WMC doesn't pick up. However, if it will solve the problem, I'll do it. (No, WMC doesn't pick up listings for all of the channels, nor does it enable all of the ones that work, and there are over 2,800 so it takes me a long time to scroll through them all and edit the few dozen that don't have listings. I'd pay money to be able to filter out the hundreds of locked channels I can't access but have to scroll through!)
Please let me know if you need more information. Thank you for any help you can provide.

the less than full listings issue is being experienced by others. MS does notseem to be responding to these reports. you can report it here:as for the channel lineup, check zap2it.com - is that lineup correct? if it is,whenever your lineup does update, you should get the revised lineup. On Tue, 17 Apr 2012 14:06:33 +0000, skst wrote:>Recently, my Windows 7 Media Center stopped integrating listings updates. 18 апреля 2012 г. 9:08https://connect.microsoft.com/site1145 is the place to report EPG issues. Notethat there is a string of complaints at that site about the guide not updating. On Wed, 18 Apr 2012 03:22:40 +0000, leo HuangLijun wrote:>>>Hi,>>>>About any questions about Media Center, I suggest to contact Media Center expert Forum for further help:>>>>>The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. 18 апреля 2012 г. 12:31I apologize for posting in the wrong forum. The description of the forum says, "Use this forum to discuss anything related to media, including Media Center and burning CDs/DVDs in Windows 7," and I concluded that this included guide listings issues. Microsoft might want to consider updating the description so that users stop posting here about guide listings problems.

18 апреля 2012 г. 12:35Thank you. At least next time, I'll know where to look so that I don't waste my time trying to fix something that's not my issue.

Is there another issue with the listings? I'm now down to 8 days of listings again. Lately, it seems that I can't get the full 12 days of listings for more than a day at a time.
Am I correct in presuming that WMC is still using TMS as the source? If so, the TMS feed via Schedules Direct is still fully functional. I'm still getting 12 days through them. So what's wrong with the TMS feed to WMC?

23 апреля 2012 г. 10:19Please report (again) on Connect. AFAIK, Tribune is still the source. I do notknow what the issue is.On Mon, 23 Apr 2012 05:16:40 +0000, skst wrote:>>>Is there another issue with the listings? I'm now down to 8 days of listings again. 24 апреля 2012 г. 12:33A number of people (including me) have reported this problem on Connect. We've marked the tickets as "Important." We've marked them as "I can reproduce this too." There is no response from Microsoft. Is there anything else we can do?

I have tried putting notices everywhere I could... But it is hard to get through to Microsoft... We went right to the wire last time this happened....

Still no response from Microsoft to any of the threads in MS Connect. I'm perplexed. For the April 16 issue, they responded within 24 hours. But now that we're down to 4-5 days of listings, there's still no response--after a week of bug report after bug report. These are the tickets that have been opened so far. It would be great if MS could respond to even one of them and tell us they're aware of the problem and are working on it.

Update:
Someone just posted in the experts forum that Ceton replied to their query and some other users are reporting that their guides are now updating.

8 декабря 2012 г. 3:32Windows Media Center TV Guide stopped working a few weeks ago. For days, message said "downloading still in progress" and would not continue. On a gut-feeling, I removed Microsoft Security Essentials from my machine (a recommended install by Microsoft a few weeks ago about the same time the Guide stopped downloading). I rebooted, and then re-set up my WMC TV Guide manually (via Media Center/Settings/Set UP TV Signal...and walk through the setup), and suddenly, the Guide started to download and I received the complete channel guide in minutes. My guess is that Microsoft Security Essentials was blocking the Guide file from downloading...way to go Microsoft! (btw, before I de-installed Security Essentials, I looked for a way to unblock/permit particular processes within the software, but couldn't figure it out...so I completely deinstalled). Not sure if this solution will work for you, but nothing else worked for me.
