Problem with Norton Internet Security 2009
I just upgraded to Windows 7 beta, and after restarting Norton Internet Security 2009, I have been receiving an "at risk" warning because there is a problem with Advanced Protection. I have tried to use the "fix now" button more than 5 times which fails identically each time. What was it Einstein said about doing something repeatedly and expecting a different result? I tried the "one click support" which also failed alledgedly because of a proxy problem (but that's another topic). Finally, I contacted Norton support via chat and was bluntly told that they do not support any beta software. The tech did explain that Advanced Protection is a heuristic that monitors acitivity for indications of a virus which would explain the error.
My question(s) is(are): 1. Is the basic AV still in play? 2. Is there any way to turn of the warning? Note: I have turned off Advanced Protection but still get the warning. Also, every time I boot up and log in, the Norton status is reported as "Secure" but flips to "fix now" afer a few minutes which is consistent with a hueristic process.
Answers, thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

- NIS 2009 is not compatible with Widows 7 at this time. The AV should still be working at this time i have not seen a way to turn off the warnings. On the Microsoft Security Partners page there is the list of fully compatible solutions. Norton 360 Beta 2 is the only Norton product fully compatible at this time. You may want to remove NIS 2009 and try one of the solutions listed.

- Hi Dr. Mike ... I have W7 installed with NIS2009 and it is running flawlessly.
Do you get the error 3039.01? I originally got that error but it went away after a clean reinstall.I used the "Norton 2009 Removal Tool" (make sure you have your Norton Key) and reinstalled Internet Security 2009, and it worked fine.
It's worth a try.

First, download and use the Norton removal tool @ symantec.com/nrt
Then, follow the instructions as illustrated in the sshots.
Norton AntiVirus 2009 I have Norton Internet Security 2009 running flawlessly in 2 separate Windows 7 installations.
One is an upgrade to a Windows Vista Ultimate that already had the product installed and the other is a fresh Windows 7 installation. In both cases the product is working as expected.
I also tried Kaspersky AV 2009 (aka Technical preview) and Norton 360 v3 beta. With Kaspersky I had occasional (but frequent) peeks of CPU usage between 50-100% in the avp.exe module that would only go away after restarting the OS while with the Symantec product the experience was fine. My only problem with the latter is the limited 14 days trial period but as noted in this forum, in other post, you can extend that period by renewing the license once the useful period expires.
Hope this helps:).- There is a way to turn off the warning. Open up NIS 2009 and put your cursor on the exclaimation point next to Advance Protection and when the little screen comes up, click on Ignor.
