Excel 2010 Gets "Unreadable Content" for all XLSX files on SharePoint 2010 Library

  • We are running SharePoint 2010 to host relatively large Excel files for forecasting.  Our users are a mix of Office 2007 and 2010.  The process of checking out, editing, checking in works well for all 2007 users, but our 2010 users experience "Excel has found unreadable content in 'XXX.xlsx'.  Do you want to recover the contens of this workbook?  If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes."

    This error occurs even for files that were uploaded by 2010 users, but does not occur for our 2007 users, regardless of where the file was created.

    Additionally, the source file (i.e., from a share or directly from the local hard drive) can be opened without error by 2010 users, so we are almost certain that the communication between Excel 2010 and SharePoint 2010 is at least part of the problem.  Anyone else having this type of problem?
