can't debug anymore a state machine workFlow in Visual Studio

    Question

  • Hi,

I have an issue with debuging a workFlow with visual studio when it should start the workFlow when I create an item nothing happen and sharepoint stay stuck : I can't refresh any lists, visual studio rich 40% of the CPU, no exception on log.

At the same time if i deploy without debugging it works.

    Please help me.

    Thanks,

    Patrice

  • The thing I have noticed is Framework 4 runtime seems to be launched  in W3WP.EXE  as well as runtime 2.

I have succeeded to debug but I have to choose this option : Managed (v2.0, v1.1, v1.0) , Workflow debug option still doesn’t work because it seems to try to debug the runtime 4.

  • i have the same problem:

but i realized, if i set a breakpoint in the code of a codeactivity this breakpoint will fire

if i set a breakpoint in the designer nothing happens

but it worked some time ago...

and: if i dont deploy the workflow before i start debugging visual studio crashes....!!!!

  • I dont know if it is the same problem, As soon the workFlow should start sharepoint does't answer anymore and any breakpoint is fired.

  • Have you tried to attach the project to a w3wp.exe process ?

  • I don't know if that helps, I haven't tried on my computer, but could you verify the app pool account rights as described in this post ?

  • nothing in the ULS log when i killed vs i got this

The description for Event ID 1002 from source Visual Studio 2010 Remote Debugger cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

The remote debugger is unable to communicate with Visual Studio, and must abort the remote debugging session. Please restart debugging.
