HTTP 500 INTERNAL ERROR - SOS

    Question

  • Hi all. I installed SPS 2007 AND WSS 3.0 on a server. I was given 3 databases and restored them to that server. Then i tried to create web applications with these databases. Even though the web applications were created succesfully, when i tried to navigate to the sites i received error 500. Those dbs work perfectly in another MOSS installation. Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi BRDZ -

When you browse to the site, do you see any errors listed in the Windows event log or in the SharePoint diagnostic logs (usually in the %CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\LOGS directory)?

  • Thanks for the reply Troy. Should i be looking at something specific?
Though when i navigate to the site there are no log errors.

  • The problem remains. I tried to import it with stsadm and i received a login failure. Why??

  • Login Error during Import implies that the account used for import doesn't have access to Sites.

Try adding the a/c as site collection admin in Central administration.
