Deploy Performance Point Scorecards, KPI's, Dashboard, Reports

    Question

  • Hi,

    I am looking for suggestion on deploying;

    1) Performance Point Scorecards, KPI's, Dashboard, Reports created using dashboard designer from one enviornment to another.

    2) Performance Point Web Parts like KPI web part, scorecard web part and report web part.

    3) Performance Point Data Sources

    Does SharePoint Solution Package support this scenario? How will this work?

    Our goal is to define all the configuration for each release which will include add new content, webe pages having various sharepoint web parts and update sharepoint content for future release.

    Thank you for your input in advance.

    Amit

  • If you are looking for an additional solution besides using Dashboard Designer for deploying PPS 2007 content then take a look at the solution out on CodePlex which does this for you and you can reference a workspace file for this as well - http://bipublisher.codeplex.com/.  This will allow you to change your data source between environments, deploy particular items, change URL references, etc.  Great tool to use to deploy between your different environments.

  • I believe Dashboard designer has this capability built in.  Dashboard Designer is available with PerformancePoint 2007 and 2010.  It allows you to create data sources, kpis, scorecards, and dashboards.  You are able to link the elements together inside the designer to create compelling interfaces for your end users with the data that they wish to see.

    Dashboard designer allows you to build the content based on the data source and not the target environment.  This means that when you deploy, you can indicate the sharePoint locatin that you want to use to host the content.  So, I believe you will find that performancepoint already provides what you need without requiring a solution package to be involveed.

    Now, if you were primarily focused on using the new 2010 web parts, then you should post this question in the 2010 forums instead.
