I have created site and routine activity on site were upload , update, delete and view.
I have enabled audit log to monitor file usage.
Now, My Size is growing unexpectedly, so I have deleted lot of junk data, removed them from all recycle bins, trimmed audit log.
Still, MDF file is large [ there is no room for shrink also], Transaction log is less than 20MB.
I m using SQL 2008R2 and recovery mode of database is "Simple"
I tried to to backup, backup size was mere 200MB only. I restored on other server it restored as 400MB.
How do I reduce size of Production DB?
According to my analysis, you can use the following script to shrink the content database:
Let us understand this using database AdventureWorks.
/* Shrink Whole AdventureWorks Database */
DBCC SHRINKDATABASE (AdventureWorks)
/* Get the Logical File Name */
/* Shrink MDF File of AdventureWorks Database */
DBCC SHRINKFILE (AdventureWorks_Data)
You need to change the AdventureWorks to your exact database name.

Even after shrink file size does not reduce more than 2%.
