Reinstall SharePoint 2010

    Question

  • I uninstalled SP2010 server without removing the updates before. Now when I try to reinstall the SP2010 server,  I receive This error:

    "Configuration Failed

One or more configuration settings failed. Completed configurations settings will not be rolled back. Resolve the problem and run this configuration wiard again. The following contains detailed information about the failure:

Failed to create the configuration database.

An Exception of type Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException was thrown. Additional exception information: The language is not supported on server.

To diagnose the problem, review the application event log and the configuration log file located at: c:\program files\Common files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\14\LOGS\PSCDiagnostics .....

How can I delete the SharePoint cumulative update so I can reinstall the server again?

  • Hello Dan,

Please checked on the Control Panel, uninstall any updates for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010.

If you did not remove the language template packs before you uninstalled and then reinstalled SharePoint Server 2010, you must run Repair from the Configuration Wizard for each language template pack on the server and restart server after repair.

Additionally, please see if there is a "InstalledLanguages" registry entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\14.0\WSS. If not, try to manually created a folder "InstalledLanguages", create a string 1033 then put the value as 14.0.4763.1000.

    Thanks & Regards.
