Sharepoint-Firefox-Authentication problem?

    Question

  • Hi.
I am the admin of a Sharepoint 2010 server.

My IE8 does not ask me for the password even after days; but that's not the problem.
I can not go beyond the authentication window even after infinite tries (not 3) using FF 5.01.

    Why?

  • Are you including the domain name in you FF login?

  • Sure.

I'm getting the same result with and without domain name.

  • Are you using NTLM?

You might want to have a look at the follwoign steps to avoid the logins completely:

  • No, i'm not using NTLM or Kerberos.

My AD is W2003, Sharepoint 2010 runs on W2008R2, my pc is W7Pro.

As far as i understand, the http://www.ferdychristant.com/blog//archive/DOMM-78WSZQ site tells how to enter the Sharepoint without password. In my case, even if i give the right username+password, i can not enter the Sharepoint site.

    I tried as username: Garbo, SYN\Garbo, syn.local\Garbo

BTW, I tried it on another pc (WXPPro) IE8 is ok, and FF4.01 broken again.

  • HI, can you  go beyond the authentication window and access some other web application, for example central admin with FF?

  • So  if you are ot using NTLM or Kerberos what are you using?

Also, does it make a differnce when you're on the server or connecting from a client PC?

It's all about from connecting from a client pc belonging to the same domain with the Sharepoint 2010 server.

BTW, i tried to connect using the IE8 residing on the Sharepoint 2010 server, no problem.

  • New tests but old result:

I found some Sharepoint and installed them -> same result.

I tried the users DOMAIN\Administrator and LOCALPC\Administrato -> same result.

Infinitely showing the "Authentication Required" window.
